What’s up with bottled water?

This past week I decided to stop my bad habit of drinking out of plastic water bottles.  Ever since I started college I have been using plastic water bottles.  They just seemed so easy to grab when I was in a hurry.  I never really started thinking about how bad they are for the environment until my boyfriend started questioning me about it.  I recently purchased a Brita filter for the apartment so I no longer saw a need to invest in water bottles.  I went to Target and bought one of the aluminum BPA-free water bottles.  I have to admit that I love my new water bottle and it actually makes me feel like I am doing my part to help the environment.  In 2004, nearly 28,000,000,000 bottles of water were used and 86% of them ended up as garbage.  If only one person stopped using bottled water then there would be 200 less bottles of water in the garbage each year.  These statistics are truly startling.  Personally I used to go through 24 bottles of water in about 2 weeks.  That means I was using 624 bottles a year! I am so glad that I have made the decision to not buy bottled water anymore.  I encourage anyone who is unsure about it or has questions to watch this video.
